As we look to the year ahead, there is great expectation for what God will do. Hope Zone will push forward with exciting programs in the areas of discipleship, academic tutoring, sewing classes and carpentry. Thank you for continuing to bring hope, training and opportunities to the families of Zona Norte for 2025. Any funds raised above our operational costs will go towards our future family center building costs or emergency needs that may come up in the community.
Zona de Esperanza, also known as Hope Zone, is a ministry under the covering of Youth With a Mission San Diego/Baja that focuses on preventing the families of Tijuana from falling into the all to common traps of drug trafficking, sex trafficking, prostitution, abuse, and poverty. We are relationally focused on developing and empowering the families of Tijuana through understanding God’s purposes.
The heart of Hope Zone is to create opportunities and an escape from the difficult reality that families living in Zona Norte are dealing with everyday. These challenges include hopelessness, the cycle of poverty, and survival mentality. The current lack of opportunities and absence of people believing in these families results in significant challenges and does not allow them to perceive beyond their circumstances. In their current environment, there is no hope, but when we create opportunities, it empowers others and brings hope.
We want to elevate individuals to who they really are.

Hope Zone’s vision is to create safe places that encourage growth and development in several areas. We seek to provide creative expressions that allow our children and adults to feel successful while growing deeper in their relationship with God and others in their community.
Our Programs
Family day
The heart of Family Day is in the name. We value families and desire to see God-centered families loving their neighbor. We offer something for every individual on this day.
learning zone
The heart of Learning Zone is to help assist children struggling and falling behind in school. We offer reading, writing and math classes after school in hopes of seeing children succeed academically.
teens group
The heart of Teens Group is to create a safe place where teens can grow in their relationship with God and others. We desire for them to dream beyond the streets of Zona Norte.
carpentry shop
The heart of the Carpentry Shop is to provide a safe, professional platform that teaches practical skills to individuals and as a result brings them better opportunities for their families.
sewing club
The heart of the Sewing Club is to create a place that teaches practical sewing skills to individuals and while learning skills, it allows for discipleship times.
street life
The heart of Street Life is to meet individuals where they are. We use creative tools to being conversations on the streets and invite them to our Family Day program.
workshops
The heart of the Workshops is to go deeper and continue growing as a community. We desire to give short in-depth trainings in the area of biblical understanding, leadership, and community development that will better equip our families to lead out in their homes and city.
Hope Zone Community Center
Building Update
We have some exciting news to share. This past week we were able to receive our permits from the government to start building. It is looking like we are set to start with the construction of our Hope Zone family center starting January 6th. This is worthy of celebration! Stay tuned as we continue to share all that God is doing and how you can continue to partner and see us to the finish line.
The dream for this community center is to provide space for educational workshops and programs to happen and for the whole family unit to find their place of belonging. We desire a space where children can safely play, grow, and find joy everywhere they turn. The heart behind this building was designed to walk in opposition to the city’s darkness and to create a lighthouse for the community and the greater city of Tijuana. We desire to establish a fully equipped family center in this area to communicate the value of the individual and to empower, develop, and celebrate diversity.
